Delete your account
This page explains how to delete your LesEye account and the data that belongs to it — yourself in the app, or by email if you can no longer sign in.
1. Delete your account in the app
You can delete the account yourself, without asking us for anything:
- sign in to LesEye — on your phone, or in a browser at app.leseye.com
- open Settings → My account
- under Data, choose Delete account
- enter your account password and type the word DELETE to confirm — the button stays locked until both match
Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. You are signed out immediately afterwards.
2. If you can no longer sign in
Write to [email protected] from the email address the account is registered to. We usually reply within one business day and delete the account and its data for you.
Use the same address if you want only specific data deleted — the photos from one trail camera, for example — and want to keep the account.
3. What gets deleted
Deleting is not hiding — the data is really removed:
- the account and profile: email address, name, hashed password, locale, and signed-in sessions
- your trail cameras and their SMTP credentials — after deletion a camera has nowhere left to send photos
- photos: the files themselves as well as the database records, together with detection results and any species corrections you made
- notification rules, notification history, and registered push-notification devices
- pending invitations, memberships, and usage records (the counts of processed photos)
- an organization you solely own is deleted together with the account
If you are the sole owner of an organization that still has other members, the app asks you to transfer ownership first, so the service does not stop working for them.
4. What is kept, and for how long
Data is removed from the live service promptly. Only this can remain:
- access-restricted operational backups of database and configuration data — for no more than 7 days. They are used only for disaster recovery, and erased data is never returned from them to active use.
- security and audit records, on their own schedule, which is deliberately not tied to your account record
If you do not delete the account but simply cancel it, live data is removed within 30 days. Photos are automatically deleted 14 days after upload anyway, and a push token is kept only until its device is unregistered, the token is replaced, or the account is deleted. Section 5 of the privacy policy has the details.
5. Export your data first
Deletion cannot be undone, so make a copy first if you want one. In the app, open Settings → My account → Data → Export data and you get a leseye-export.zip file with your events and detection results as JSON.
The photo files are not in the export, to keep it small. For a copy of your stored photos, write to [email protected] — we will send you a download link covering every photo still within the retention window.
